Adam Cuthbért (b. 1988) is a Detroit-born sound designer, controllerist, and composer. His work cross-breeds acoustic instruments and synthetic digital processes to create immersive sound environments, garnering notice from NPR, The New York Times, Backstage Magazine, DJ Mag, and the San Francisco Chronicle, which finds it “hard to resist the vigor and inventiveness of his writing.”

Cuthbért has collaborated with cutting-edge ensembles like Friction Quartet, Third Coast Percussion, Bang on a Can, and the GVSU New Music Ensemble, as well as electronic artists such as Todd Reynolds, Raz Mesinai, and Almamy. He performs with skullcap5050, spectral techno project I-VT, and ambient ensemble kuuma, and is a regular collaborator with choreographer Maura Donohue (#tidesproject, zero...sixty at Roulette Intermedium).

He has created sound works for dance and theatre with inmixedcompany, Shawn Bible Dance, Pioneers Go East Collective, The Asia Society, La MaMa Moves, and New York Theatre Workshop. His recording discography includes artistic credits in the catalogs of Ghostly International, Cantaloupe Music, Innova Recordings, ModyWorks, Underground Producers Alliance, people places records, and slashsound.

Also active on the industry side, Cuthbért is Licensing Manager for the Grammy-winning alt-classical label Cantaloupe Music and co-founder of slashsound records along with Daniel Rhode. He lives in Brooklyn, NYC with his wife, Rebecca, and cats, 健三 & 千代.
